Sintomatología del daño producido por Listronotus bonariensls (Coleóptera: Curculíonidae) en cultivos de trigo del sur de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Resumen


Se estudiaron en condiciones de campo las características de los daños causados por el "gorgojo argentino del tallo* (Listronotus bonariensis Kuschel, Coleoptera: Curculíonidae) en cultivos de trigo pan y trigo para fideos del área de influencia de Bahía Blanca (38° 41'S, 62° 15' W).

La larva de este insecto se alimenta a nivel de la corona de los ápices caulinares y primordios de raíz, causando la muerte de uno o más macollos o bien de toda la planta, favoreciendo el quebrado de la base de las cañas y su posterior vuelco.

En ataques severos se midieron pérdidas de rendimiento de grano del orden del 31%. En trigo para fideos se verificó una reducción significativa del peso de 1000 granos que no fue detectada en trigo pan. En el presente trabajo se describe la sintomatología que revelan las plantas atacadas, así como también algunas características y rasgos morfológicos del insecto que permiten su identificación a campo.
